Presidents Agree to Continue Talks and Delay Tariffs

July 1, 2019 – President Trump and Chinese President Xi met during the G-20 meeting in Osaka which resulted in agreement to continue negotiations and temporarily halt any release of additional tariffs. The additional tariffs pertain to the infamous “List 4”.
There has been no further information on when the next meeting or discussions will take place or details of agenda. However, such negotiations will include increased purchases of U.S. products, structural reforms related to issues such as forced technology transfer, intellectual property protection and enforcement mechanisms. As this updated news is welcomed by those who have been impacted, there is no guarantee or timeline when the Trump administration could pursue imposed tariffs on List 4.
